Profit Taking on Al Calpone's Old Spread

Mobster Al Calpone's former winter home is up for sale on Miami Beach. In 1971, Henry Morrison, a retired Delta pilot, purchased the two story Spanish-style home at 93 Palm Ave for $56,000. Now the home is being listed for a cool $6.8 million. Columnist Joan Fleischman wrote about the history of the home in today's Herald. The four bedroom house with a screened porch, 30x60 ft pool and two bedroom gate house was built by brewer Clarence Busch in 1922. Al Capone purchased the home in his wife Mae's name with the help of a middleman prior to being sent to Alcatraz for tax evasion.
