Florida lawmakers are pushing a bill which would impose more stringent punishments on drivers with revoked or suspended licenses. If the legislation is passed, drivers who are caught more than once without a valid license could face jail time. In addition, police will have the authority to impound the cars of these drivers. One of the issues with the bill is that many people do not realize they are driving with a suspended license because they have moved and have not received notice at their new address. In order to make sure this is not an issue; the legislation would create a toll free number for people to check their driving status.
